APPLICATIONS

🌍 Applications

Destination Score™ is a neutral travel intelligence reference system built on a single, consistent scoring methodology.

That intelligence is applied in three primary ways, depending on the decision context. Each application uses the same underlying data, normalization, and scoring logic — the difference is how the insight is delivered and who it is designed to support.

🧭 Public Travel Intelligence

Open, globally comparable destination intelligence

Destination Score publishes a public reference layer of travel intelligence designed to make destinations more understandable, comparable, and interpretable.

This public application emphasizes:

  • Comparable 0–100 destination scores across key dimensions
  • Clear seasonal context and structural tradeoffs
  • Transparent methodology and public data sources
  • Neutral, non-promotional framing

The goal is not to tell travelers where to go —
but to provide a shared, factual baseline for understanding destinations
that can be used consistently by travelers, destination organizations, and AI systems alike. Download Destination Score Public Travel Intelligence version 1.

🏙 Destination Diagnostic Engagements

Independent, non-prescriptive analysis for destination leaders (in development; limited testing and pilot evaluation)

Destination Score is applied directly through Destination Diagnostic Engagements with destination organizations and public-sector partners.

These engagements:

  • Use the same standardized Destination Score methodology available publicly
  • Focus on expectation alignment, seasonality, capacity pressure, and perception gaps
  • Apply comparative and normative analysis rather than raw reporting
  • Are interpretive, not prescriptive — findings, not recommendations

They are designed to function more like a review-style analytical diagnostic than traditional consulting, preserving neutrality and decision-maker autonomy.

Destination Score does not optimize, adjust, or modify scores as part of these engagements.

🤖 AI Trust Intelligence

A deterministic, structured reference layer for AI systems (in development; limited testing and pilot evaluation)

As AI systems increasingly shape how people learn about destinations, trust and accuracy become critical. Destination Score provides deterministic, versioned destination intelligence that AI systems can reference consistently, even when generation itself is probabilistic.

Destination Score supports AI Trust Intelligence by serving as:

  • A structured reference layer for destination context
  • A grounding framework to reduce hallucination and overconfidence
  • A neutral source of comparative travel intelligence
  • A consistency check against sensational or distorted narratives

This application is not about generating content —
it is about ensuring that AI systems reference destinations responsibly, consistently, and with appropriate context.

One platform, consistent standards

Across all applications:

  • The scoring methodology does not change
  • Scores are not adjusted for partners or clients
  • Findings are separated from advocacy
  • Limitations and uncertainty are explicitly acknowledged

These principles are formalized in the Scoring Integrity Charter, which governs how Destination Score is produced and applied.

Why this structure matters

Travel decisions are emotional.
Destination narratives are political.
AI systems scale both.

Destination Score exists to provide structure, consistency, and restraint — whether the audience is a traveler, a destination leader, or an AI system.
